What's new

Srilanka will neither buy JF-17 Nor LCA

The new of buying and inducting LCA was a rude joke and it was never on the cards for SL government. It was all Indian hoo-ha as they normally start dancing for non-existing achievements. It was basically a shameless attempt by desperate and hurt Indians to raise the status of failed LCA by pitting it against JFT in SL acquisition. But I am pretty sure JFT will ultimately find its way into SL airbases. Sri Lankan leadership is very smart. Think of how they turned the tables on RAW by using RAW-created LTTE to kill Rajiv who originally forced Lankans to accept the deployment of Indian troops in their country. Also, Chinese leverage in Sri Lankan policies is too strong for Indians to get over. So it's just a matter of time before JFT will be flown by Sri Lankan air force.

bro, its not hard to understand is it ? Pakistan is not an Alpha in South Asia same way India is not an Alpha in World or Asia aswell.

even if you believe it, you dont have to say it, saying doesnt make it stick or not stick. when time comes people know who is not alpha

I think he pour some Pertrol then some gasoline and some crude oil on top and lit it on fire.
Please wait the result of USA policy as they sucessfully trape NAMO govt. as USA militry ally against China and working for more weakness in indo russia militry relations and now indian militry bases are open for uncle sam.

WTF a retired chief of PAF doing selling aircraft, which genius appointed him as sales man, every crown corporation full of military and political appointees, no wonder they all fail.

Reference is to a former Sri Lankan air chief not a Pakistani.

They never were serious they did not even hold serious discussions, they want to go for a tender which will be international

I take this article with a pinch of salt, it said India does not want Sri Lanka to get top notch fighters lol wtf

India to train Sri Lanka in air defence

lthough India has steadfastly maintained its policy (at least in public) about not supplying offensive military hardware to Sri Lanka, it has quietly decided to extend a 100 million dollars credit line to Colombo for purchase of non-lethal weapons.

In fact since 2000, India has supplied 24 L-70 anti-aircraft guns, 11 USFM radars, 10 Mine Protected Vehices and 24 Battlefield Surveillance Radars to Sri Lanka.

Ever since the military defeat of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in May 2009, New Delhi and Colombo have tried to reset their defence relationship.

General Bikram Singh's four-day visit is but one step forward in that direction.

India provided intel in the conflict too but we have a big Tamil population in India so sometimes things are hidden.

Spare us this. We can well remember Sri Lanka was threatened with serious consequences if it went ahead. It's not long ago.

But if you look at the map of Pakistan and India and then imagine them as humans...you will see Pakistan is pretty much an alpha there.

And remind me of the first trip made by their new President?

Genuine concerns have already been addressed by Sri Lanka who said they would not allow sny anti India activities in their country. The subject is closed. In regards to what fighter they buy? My understanding is they will go for a tender.

At the quoted price point, Sri Lanka will probably buy Yak-130s

@litman @Gibbs
Does Sri Lanka really need these use less toys (both jf blunders and teja bhai) at this point of time???
Better get some choppers for maritime surveillance
Being a Island nation strengthening Navy should be the first priority, that too only after economic stabilization

Lost cause Aircraft LCA Tejas is just that, a lost cause, a thing of the past which took too long to mature.
Even Indian Air force are not interested in them. India may try bullying Srilanka, Bangladesh and other submissive neighbours to buy it, but that's not gona work.
