and let me also tell you about Special boat services of Britain. their training regime and strict recruitment can be gauged by the fact that volunteers who don't make it through in the final stages of selection are recommended to go for SAS. they are mostly shrouded in mystery but their missions in WW2 and afterwords are a stunning read.

lists like these are not more than patriotic feel good listing with choreographed Hollywood style pictures.
I agree with you that both USA and UK special forces are the most prolific, active and have the most knowledge and experience of operation across the globe.. no other force comes closer to them.
specially including third word country forces like India and Pakistan is unrealistic

I am sure you do realize that any SF , be it SAS or GROM or SSG , they are trained to do their job , not fight for the title of been called the best .. the operation SAS or US seals been involved with high tech gear somehow back by a huge air support , for instance look at the Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan , SEAL team were pinned down and so does the Army rangers sent to rescue them , the tech failed there miserably , the might of US and their Operations list is long because of their influence and no one can Question them ... if you think that Pakistan gets a location of Fazulu in Afghanistan near the border so we cant take him out ? yes we can , not for that we are the " Best " its because they are task to do so ..

US Navy SEALS came out alive from Abobatabd not because of their Superior fighting skill but because of PA was asked to keep the blind eye on everything ..
the idea of SF is to get the job done , the thing that SAS can do , so does SSG , its all about how and where your mission is ..

what many of the people don't understand that a SF unit and its success is not just based of bravery or high skill shooting but many other factors are involved ..
1. ground/Air Intel
2. Means of Transportations
3. Gear
4. Strategy
5. back-up
etc

everything is crucial when it come to for a SF unit and its successful Operation .. any person who is in or at least talk to SF people will know that its not just the 10-12 people team who is giving their best but every other personnel who is part of the Operation like Pilots , Intelligence Officers , medics and so ..

but what I read here how some members react on the way that SSG been listed here and not SAS is like a universal Blasphemy .. so either they have no understanding how a SF unit work , or they are just some more Fanboy's who are here for D1ck measuring .

Actually; Russia is no where close to the power it possessed in the 80's - back then their 'military equipment and training' was considered unmatched. They are continuing to decline in power; Russia lost 11% of its GDP in 2009 alone and is continuing to have negative growth; although it has reached -4%.

A couple of RSF pictures with flashy equipment isnt going to change much.
That is a misconception.

The Red Army that came to Afghanistan was largely made of conscripts (with substandard training). And US nullified its technological superiority over the Afghans by providing sophisticated weapons to so-called Mujahideen through Pakistan.

At present, Russia is in the process of completely reforming its military setup. Even on the equipment front, latest weapon systems such as Armata Combat Platform, state-of-the-art ABM systems and Fifth generation fighter jets are being developed to prepare Russian forces for modern-era and emerging threats.

I'd say that Russian army of modern times is much better then the army that came in Afghanistan.

As for the economy; it is suffering because US have imposed some sanctions on Russia that are in effect since 2014.

You contradicted your points there
But Thanks for replying to your own points and confirming what I said

Others seem happy with Milkors ..(the SSG probably uses Milkors too -- apart from the usual UBLs)... The army's happy with QBLs/RPGs & AGLs...
We do use Milkor with SSG as well as regular army units.

Such lists are meaningless except to learn the names of special forces of various countries.
In terms of experience, US has some of the most versatile forces available which have been very active since their formation many decades ago.
UK also boasts a huge experience in this aspect due to its own unique legacy and its very close military collaboration with US.

SSG is a very capable force which has been exposed to a lot of operations in the last decade, thus increasing its readiness level and field experience. It has done very well at behind the enemy lines reconnaissance operations, targeted attacks on certain strongholds and especially in hunting high level terrorist operatives/leaders in various operations.
On an individual level, SSG has extremely sharp, motivated and capable men.

However bench marking the human skill of one force with another is a futile and impossible activity.
An outsider cannot isolate the human element from the many other elements when judging the overall effectiveness of various special forces through the different operations they have performed against different types of enemies.
There is a lot of support element which acts as force multiplier in the context of any military formation.
In this context the intelligence, gadgets, weaponry, air/land/sea assets and technical expertise available to the US forces would perhaps make them the most lethal.

I would say that Pakistan has some of the best fighting men in the world but I cannot ascertain that they are" completely the best". We have had a history of successfully fighting the soviet special forces in Afghanistan (1980-1988) and of fending off an enemy that is 8 times bigger than us
8 times,ehh..............??!!Why just stopping at 8,why not claim it to be 80 or even 800 I wonder.
and that has some of the best and most advanced weapons on earth.
In 1965,both our Army and the Air Force was pathetically under equipped and trained compared to their Pakistani counterparts!!Heck, they couldn't even master a paltry 2 to 1 superiority even in infantry (and a big portion of Indian infantry was very poorly trained when hostilities broke out in 65 since they didn't get the chance of completing their basic training and this even had led to some desertions at multiple occasions),the artillery was pathetically out-gunned (and out numbered as well!!),and the panzer forces were also significantly outnumbered (500+ M48 & M-47 Pattons in Pakistan Army arsenal against 188 Centurion MkVIIIs in Indian hands).

And it just doesn't stop there, the Pakistani tanks were also significantly more advanced compared to what the Indian Army had back then,on account of their latest coincident range-finders and mechanical ballistic computers, which made the gunner's job that much easier;all they had to do was to keep the cross-hairs on their target and feed the range data into the computer and the computer would calculate the target's bearing, elevation and lead and align the gun accordingly. But there was no such equipment in the Indian tanks which were still equipped with world war 2 era simple Stadiametric rangefinder sights, which needed much more meticulous works on the gunner's part and was also far less accurate and more time consuming!!Just buy yourself a good quality tank simulator, like the Steel Beast pro PE and see for yourself what I'm talking about (it's as close to the real thing as it gets, judging by the fact that it's used by the US Armored forces to train their tankers).
Besides,by this time,Pakistan Army had a fully developed and well trained mechanised infantry, fully equipped with their APCs and the whole assortments of necessary weapons,no such formation in the Indian Army!!
The Indian Army was practically in shambles, their moral shattered by the humiliation they had suffered just 3 years ago in the hands of our Northern neighbour and deprived of much needed equipment on account of pacifist political leaders who had repeatedly turned down Army's subsequent requests for necessary armaments and other equipment!!Yet somehow,we end up being 'the 8 times larger enemy' you guys boast to have utterly defeated (or fended off by the more modest of ones like yourself) so often.

I have doubts about the accuracy of the above. It does not include SAS of UK. SAS was formed in 1941 and is the the Special service that started all others; the US Green Berets ( formed in 1952) are also excluded.

SGS are indeed good, one can say very good, but to say that SGS are better trained, equiped & led than the British SAS! Regrettably, I would disagree.

Well, SpetsNaz have been the king of this field for quite a good amount of time. SAS and US Marines are truly better equiped then SSGs but you can't say better trained. US Marines did get hell of a sandy spite in Afghanistan while SSGs been the king of same terrain, plus they won the last 2 Cambrian Patrols too.

Come on Indians never admit it, if you didn't intend to build an army 8 times bigger then us, you still would because your populations 5 times more as compared to our population. So all of your text above, straight in vein. Gotch Ya!

Try to make some sense pal,try to make some sense!!Just a cursory look at the respective force levels of both nations should put all the David vs Goliath bullshit to rest.

After the end of British empire, out of all the former british colonies, india was the most powerful and developed nation. Even more advanced than China at that stage. There was a reason why india was called "the jewel of the british empire". Pakistan however was set up for collapse by the british and others. It's hard to believe that Pakistan ever had more advanced equipment than india especially in light of the fact that americans always screwed Pakistan over with regards to spare parts hence making those tanks and fighter jets redundant to us. Treacherous Pakistani politicians have always betrayed Pakistan when fighting against an enemy that is many more times bigger than us. Odds that no nation on earth including the americans can even surmount.

That's what I am saying but Indians won't just simply believe it.
