Turkmenistan Commences Work on TAPI Gas Pipeline

the year 3000

That's not an unrealistic number actually... Afghanistan is very unsafe, Iran and the west despite the nuclear deal have not thawed their relations which means that we will be hesitatnt on that front and despite better relations Russian pipe line has yet to start which can always put a question mark on it. :p :p :p

Frankly I like IP and Russian projects but the tapi is questionable for me due to its passage through Afghanistan whichbis unsafe and the govt is hostile towards us...

Let's hope something comes our way and we really bring this projects to completion... Our gas needs will only rise and we need all the gas we can get.

Direct gas routes from the Arab Peninsula and Iran are the future for India.

I don't see any sort of these land routes really taking off. The pipeline crosses too many unstable regions in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

two of these should be done by late 2018.. Don't know about the Iranian pipeline. Also, Turkmenistan's pipeline may fall off schedule, depends on Afghanistan's security etc. The only sure thing here is the Russian pipeline.

Save money and Build F'ing Dams. Why is Pakistanis so eager to give Billions of dollars every year to other countries when they can build Dams and can use these 15 to 20 billion dollars on education, defence and health. Not to mention, building Dams itself will create thousands of jobs.

This pipeline is a stupid investment based on the current geopolitical situation in the region especially Afghanistan. I mean its supposed to pass through the Taliban heartlands, and despite whatever fancy predictions Afghani media and nationalists might give about the groups end, the Taliban are still a force to be reckoned with. I say forget this and focus on CPEC 100% , and once Iran is brought back into the international community fully invest in the IPI. The TAPI however makes no sense to be perfectly honest.
