Sartaj Aziz spoke to India’s media, our ministers made no effort

MEA had done extensive PC. That was very well handled. It was one of the best PC in which the minister explained to the at most clarity what was the expectation of the meeting, what was agreed upon and where in the whole India Pak dialogue that was. NSA meeting was a stepping stone for bigger issue of mistrust on kashmir.

I dont think there was ever a need for another interviews/conference on this matter, when we know nothing concrete happened on this subject.

All these interviews are not actually interviews but grill by so called journalists (who have lost the meaning of good journalism, i.e. keep of cutting when someone speaking, keep on putting words in other mouths, keep asking same question in different form to try to get an answer which suits their pre-decided minsets), hence current band of India journalists are more dramebazz than actually journalists.

Title itself sounds like someone is moaning for attention but still not getting it .

What Media is actually trying to do is to dictate the terms to Administration.I find it ridiculous. Whatever information Government wanted to be passed to it's public it did via that Sushma's presser. And I as a citizen am satisfied with that.

Thank God we have social media platforms to stop Media goons from setting the narrative to some extent on every other topic it wants.

While their can be Judiciary accountability for judiciary .Lokpal for Political and administrative class. Then why not something similar for Media ??It's time a autonomous tribunal is formed to check this menace of Media Mafia.

Pakistan NSA gave an interview, who did they expect to give an interview from the Indian side? Doval? That man keeps a distance from all media, imagine him talking....Sushma Swaraj was out of the country, so unless they got in Arun Jaitley or Rajnath Singh, there was no real chance. The India stance was clear & it followed from the Ufa declaration. Maybe the Pakistanis wanted to explain, GoI obviously thought the issue was self explanatory.
well as said earlier Karan thapar is assuming stuff and by all means he can/should....however we shouldn't either reject his notion or accept it...the best way is to be indifferent...this topic would have made sense had he quoted an incident where some minister was approached by Pak media and got rejected...

bcoz we are the bread and butter of media...you don't like something switch it off...media will itself change the course...if media is acting like a mafia then we are directly responsible for it....no??

Actually...also feel that Nawaz Sarif is a good person along with his ministers who are really interested to build relationship with India...But unfortunately neither Pakistan Army not BJP is really interested to speak to Pakistan..And Pakistan played into the hands of both Pakistan Army and BJP when they invited Kashmir separatist people..This provided ample opportunity to BJP which is any way not much excited to talk anything with Pakistan, to postpone the meeting..I think Modi's statergy is clear...India will have foreign policy which gives economic dividends...And right now, Pakistan is not providing neither any political or economic dividend to India..So BJP will always find some excuse to not to talk with Pakistan if trade and investment related topic are not the prime topic to be discussed.

What has Pakistan Army got to do with?

For a change get off your high pedestal of arrogance and look at yourself. Pakistan has moved on. It wants to build relationship with India but India is still stuck post 90s.

There are demons inside your country who dont want to build relationship. Look at you. You dont even want to talk. You dont want to discuss. You think you can hand down your demands to us and it will be a relationship. This is not going to happen.

Soon your PM and his ultra nationalistic and over zealous party will realize geopolitics and will come down their idiotic and unclear position vis a vis Pakistan.

I have no issue with Karan Thapar's piece, he is entitled to his view. I don't think there is much to be made of it. With reference to your point though, I don't think GoI ministers speak to anyone from Pakistani television or even the news media. It is inconceivable that no request is ever forthcoming but I think there is a policy to not have any interaction unless authorised & that authorisation is never really given.

NO

Humans had basis requirements like house, cloth, food and water. Nowadays media too has become our basic requirement. We at most will just swap among the various news channels but won't altogether switch it off. It's daily dose what we reqire . Problem is not at our end.

A regulatory body is essential requirement to preserve media ethics in today's commercial and transactional world. Every non-regulated field without checks and balances is prone to drift towards commercial gains.

Where has Pakistan moved to? Still keep harping on the same thing in every meeting. Kashmir has not been resolved for 67 years for a reason, to keep it front & centre of everything is pointless.

What relationship does Pakistan want to build with India? Nothing whatsoever. What do you bring to the table apart from your demands?

well then you will be left with just regulations...b/w if all news channels are like that then switch to DD...the reason saas bahu serials are hit in India is not because every channel is showing them but they are hit because people want to watch them which forces every channel to keep making them or else take risk of going out of business...the reason internet is filled with **** is its demand....not the supply triggering demand....

This article is total and unmitigated bullshit!

irresponsible article.
How? Here's why.

The journalist says: "He has many sterling qualities which his opponents at home or his adversaries abroad would not deny: a quiet dignity, a pleasing manner, a quick intelligence and an appearance of honesty."

Rubbish! He displays none of these attributes.

Then: "The important point I want to make is that a top Pakistani politician was willing to give interviews to the Indian media, even after the climactic denouement 48 hours earlier when the talks collapsed amidst acrimony and bitterness. Would an Indian politician have agreed to speak to the Pakistani media in similar circumstances? As far as I know, that’s never happened."

No one from Pakistan media asked any Indian politician for an interview as yet! That's why!

Again: "Mr Aziz defended Pakistan’s position with cogent arguments, a mastery of detail and appeals to the practice of the past or the logic of the present situation."

Bullshit! Those were the crappiest arguments I've hear since last Christmas from a Pakistani at that position! A 3rd grader would have given arguments which were more cogent and intelligent than this fellow.

Then: "A week has passed but not a single member of Mr Modi’s government has spoken to us about the collapsed talks. Our ministers have felt no need to explain, leave aside justify — and forget all about the thought of answering critics. Yet a Pakistani minister did just this."

Huh? Sushma Swaraj said it all. Is this guy Karan Thapar dumb or what?

Actually Your Country is still stuck in 1948.

And arrogance must not be misunderstood with boldness in presenting one's views on subject.

Demons are there on both sides. We don't have any demand until you don't have any demands. We are happy with status quo.

How soon ??

You are mixing up things.

Saas bahus and movies are part of our entertainment, while Media happens to be fourth pillar of Democracy and yes I watch DD news and Rajya Shabha TV more often due to lengthy commercials breaks on commercial channels. Even BBC is government owned.

I think there is a confusion here.... karan is not talking about indian leaders talking to pakistani media....but leaders talking to indian media, because he used the word "us" in last para....

But I think SS has explained indian position in her press conference, and I don't think there is anything more to explain....

Any youtube link for his interview ???

He starts with the Pakistani media & does go on to the Indian media.. I was just referring to a comment of whether any Pakistani request was turned down.

Sushma Swaraj gave a detailed press conference where she took questions from EVERYBODY, including the pakistani press who was present and answered ALL questions posted to her

What else is required ? which question was left unanswered that Karan Thapar wanted to ask ?
