IAI Kfir a threat for many 4th gen fighters aspecially jf-17

IAI Kfir is close to the same range as it previous fighter it used during the Falklands the Super Étendard, and this is with two 1,300 liter drop tanks.

I wouldn't expect any of Argentina planes to be doing bombing runs on the Falklands, but attacking maritime attacks with exocets or w/e anti ship missiles they got or get.

this is why argnetina really wanted to get a dozen or so Su-24 fighter-bombers for the increased range.

they defiantly do need some tanker aircraft

Curious why Argentina does not have a defense industry like France does which makes Rafales. Argentina is like 99% Spanish white :p:

Kfir Block 60 : Upgraded version of the C.10, The main feature of this variant is the use of AESA radar, proposed to the Bulgarian Air Force and Colombian Air Force. As of January 2014 Argentina is reported to be interested in a US$500m deal for eighteen Block 60 to replace its planned acquisition of second-hand Mirage F1M from Spain
Industry sources claim IAI will "soon" receive an order for the Argentine Air Force for Kfir Block 60s

As the latest upgrade of the Israeli-made fighter, the new configuration involves giving the General Electric J79-powered aircraft a total overhaul, and re-equipping it with an Elta Systems EL/M-2032 active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar and an open architecture avionics suite

Hi,

Thread should be " THREAT " in the title.

I don't think it has anything to do with being white. South America is pretty much non-war and peaceful. besides Brazil I don't think anyone has a substantial military complex.

they don't want another arms races like the dreadnought arms race of the late 1800's

I don't think Kfir has range to reach Falklands. It is a Mirage III. Look, penguins at Falklands 8-)

You forgot to notice. It has a refuelling probe. The Argentinians do have refuelling tankers

You forgot to mention they willingly surrendered their nukes for a peaceful South America

just cost 4.5 million per jet:-)

no its almost 27 million per jet

It,s a mirage 3 with inferiorty complex which is cheap as peanuts and hence every poor airforce can afford it.Don,t even compare it with JF-17.

And yes, JF is so superior its costs are sky rocking high that the poor Air forces can't afford it right??? the price of the 18 jet is 500 million with the packages , do u know why IAI got the contract ?? because Argentina didn't like the avionics in jf so they asked the chinese to replace them with Israeli ones, and the weapons too from israel , China denied the request, then they asked for AshM for the Fighter, chinese once again denied because of UK...what choice do they have??? and Kfir's only problem is range other than that its a good old fighter... hell ya it'll outrun jf any time

From Rio gallegos to falklands its 650km why do u think they can't bomb falklands ??

Dear the price of one jf17 block 1 is $25 million and Kfir price is $4.5 million and using tech from the 80,s.Pakistan is located on a strategic important location and due to some internal and external security threats our requirements are way more higher than a country like argentina.Yes they should not buy JF17 thunder if the Kfir can get their job done and don,t have much budget to afford to advanced multirole fighter like JF17.

Dude, These are overhauled and replaced with Different engine, different Avionics, New AESA Radar and Pods, and integrated to use almost all of the Top Israeli A2A missiles, and Israel will provide anti-ship missile too. the price tag you see in the wiki is not for block 60 that's what Argentina getting. that was for the first kfir jets these are Block 60 the actual deal is 18 fighters for 500 million. No one will give u a plane with AESA, new engine from US and Israeli Avionics. and Yes Argentina can pay for JF,,JF is not some costly fighter.. its one of the cheapest fighter in 2015... if Argentina had no cash then they wouldn't have asked for grippen and JF

I didn't say they can't I said I wouldn't expect them too. this is even assuming they can get past the UK defenses in the first place.
It increases the pressure on the defender. To counter a company, you need a battalion. To counter a battalion you place a brigade and so on.

Asking is another thing and buying is another thing. And i know what,s your level of pain sanjeev :)
JF17 is getting attention of many countries while tejas are just sitting ducks no one want to buy.

IF this is the case, we should explore the differences between Chinese and Israeli sub-systems in this thread
what are the key differences in

1. Avionics
2.Weapons (Air to Air and Air to Ground)
3.Radars (is there an AESA radar in sight for the JF-17?)

If China wants to deny selling AShM, then any israeli made AShM will be a plus in the comparison

----------
over a mirage III, the flight envelope of this aircraft seems only slightly better (better TWR, and canards give better instantaneous angle of attack change) but the key features of this planes are the sub-systems, and weapons it carries ... what the Israeli Air force does best is training, they start with the best of their young people and push them to the limit, do the Argentinians have the money for the level of pilot training they will need if they plan to have this plane avialable for battle with the RAF eurofighter on the falklands or royal navy F-35s from carriers

there is no reason the JF-17 can't exceed this decades old design, if it keeps working on a better engine, radar, weapons, and electronics (Avionics, Data-links, EW/Defensive jamming systems)

also if better use of composities and some RAM coatings in key places can really make a difference

i'm not good at that but @500 could help

and @SecularNationalist Dude, till they sign the deal and give out the details(unlikely) we won't be knowing the cost per plane.. The Argentinian offer for 18 jets were 217 in 2014 but then the price went up because of the Israeli Tech, my guess would be a jet will cost somewhere between 15-20 million and the rest might go for weapon package. the English are already tensed they're asking Israeli to submit the details of the Avionics they're providing to the Argentinians

1 thing we are forgetting
is
Israeli weapons
air to air
air to sea
&
air to ground
iai kfir is a suitable beast for many countries
