Hi,

The U S military also had the most advanced equipment---but over a period of time it got a thrashing in Afghanistan that may not be repeated in the next 1000 years of coming history.

It got so bad for them that they had top leave with their tails between their legs.

But coming to turkey-----they may have the equipment----but they do not have any combat experience----they may have been involved in skirmishes---but no major war.

Over the years---the Turks have chosen prosperity over war and aggression and that puts them behind Israel----. Israel has seen many a wars and won them hand down---they have better weapons---training---equipment and to top it off ---they have the devotion and dedication to support their cause.

The Turks have no cause for a war against a major power---their identity and their existence is not being challenged----so by default they have no commitment to fight a war to win.

Looking at their past history----they are a force to be reckoned with indeed----but given the current and recent past---Israel is the military that is on the top of the list hands down without prejudice.

Lol, look who was pretending himself to be a great professor and what came out to be one. *Khoda Pahar Nikla Chooha*. We were talking about Middle East only, I think.

The result is unfair, I don't know why most of the Pakistanis think Turkey is better than Iran.

Both countries are popular among common people of Pakistan. Only this poll, one has to take into consideration Turkey being part of NATO and being trained to that standard.

Then that's it.
But Iran is much stronger in war strategic, man power, unawaring strategies and attacks, radar power, ground and air missiles, ICBMs, country depth and size, strategic depths etc .....

My two cents ...

Radars?? Air missiles?

Turkey is developing a strong and robust defense industry, in the future its land forces will be much more capable than it is today. If Turkey wanted to it could have ordered 1000 foreign tanks and been like egypt in tank force size but it made a strategic choice to develop its own tank (Altay) which it will order 1000 of, if more are needed it can order more and not worry about arms embargos, this can not be said for many countries in the middle east.

Turkey is producing its own artillery systems including rocket artillery systems. It has the capability to produce all of the munitions it needs to wage war for the long run, this can not be said about other militaries in the region except for iran and israel afaik.

Turkey also has a well established military culture and military academies, they have people going to military high schools and then continuing their military education at military academies where they receive tough training. Foreign countries are sending their young officers to be trained in Turkey. The Turkish military is disciplined and well organized, you can look at how successful they are in their NATO missions, now they are even responsible for NATO's mine counter measures. NATO not to long ago moved its Allied Land Command Headquarters to Turkey. Turkey is constantly participating in bilateral exercises with various countries and is conducting its own large scale exercises regularly.

As someone mentioned earlier in this thread Turkey is not spending much of its budget on the military but if were to do so it would swamp anyone in the region, there is no point in spending all that money if you are not facing serious conventional threats. Countries don't build their militaries to get on top 10 lists on youtube videos, they build them based on their country's strategic needs.

Technologically I would say the Israelis. But overall it's definitely Turkey.

Thats not a reason for our achievements, ther are a lor of Nato countries and they are nothing with defence industry. What we saw from our Nato partners was licence production. Some parts made in Turkey and the remaning parts was nothing more then assamble.

Critical technology, knowhow and R&D investments is what made us today. That other muslim countries didn't invest in ther own industry is not our fault. No mativation, no innovation, no strategy and no perservance.

Thirty years later and stil blaming others, then you have a problem.

TURKIYE.... than israel.... Than others

Being a NATO member Turkiye has gained a lot .... Transfer of tech, under subsidiarised rates.... The best tech on hand etx... These are the "fruits" of being a NATO member.

Of course...

FMI check Iranian section. :-)

Thanks to NATO radars, E-3 Sentry stationed at FOB Konya, the EWS in Malatya supporting Turkish Air Force C4ISR, Iran is way ahead in terms of SAMs and Rocket Artillery, butndont tell.tell me you have better radars A2A, A2G missiles.

In addition in future 4 destroyers will provide complete coblverage of western, southern and northern ADIZ

Well, it hard to certain the status of Egypt's ballistic missile program considering that Egypt hasn't tested any ballistic missiles within the past 10 years. Testing is a key aspect of having a ballistic missile program to validate the operational readiness and standards of a missile. According to the first link the North Korean missile test failed and the second article is dated to 1996 when in fact Egypt canceled its cooperation with North Korea in exchange for more American weapons. And the third article is about speculations based on satellite images.

Maybe @Hell NO @Mahmoud_EGY @Frogman @Sinai Horus could any of you shed some light on this subject?

land and navy TURKEY is the strongest!! and the thing is time is on our side, the gap will widening with every and each on going projects. concerning the air force for now ısrael has the edge but with the entry of F 35 this will change soon as well since TURKEY will get 116 F 35 and ısrael will get around 75 F 35 and we have the TF X program. the equation is simple enough, an economy based on industrial production and in this sense Turkey is the leading economy with its size in ME! we have the infrastructure and we have the money for the R & D and indigenous arms programs! but no doubt some of the ME countries namely Isreal, Egypt and to a some extend SA have stronger land forces than most of the europen contries

Countries to consider:

Egypt
Israel
Turkey

Iran is out because too outdated equipment. Rest not even close.

Egypt
+ battle experience, large and modern tank fleet, strong air defence, big man power pool
- during the wars commanders showed very little initiatiave, misinformed their higher commanders this resulted in very poor offensive capabilities and reaction to changed situation.

Israel
+ most experienced in all types of war: conventional, blitzkriegs, large scale tank battles, urban warfare, combining forces, UAV coordination etc... High quality of personnel (in Israel bulk of the combat units are people from middle-high class, in other ME countries they tend to avoid army), modern equipment, including some unique for Israel like long range ATGM, APS. Most developed indigenous industry.
- small man power pool (needs to rely on reserves), high public sensitivity to casualties.

Turkey
+ large NATO standard army, big man power pool.
- equipment mostly old, virtually no conventional war experience.
