So Britain became the greatest empire in history simply due to Mercantilism where It was a cheap and relatively easy way for a Feudal Monarch to gain an income on the back of his nation's prestige and maritime exploits, since he could give permission to explorers to claim lands on his behalf and then authorise certain companies (with the aid of Charters) to exploit the natural resources in that part of the world in return for a fixed income to the Monarch.
Also technological and industrial superiority where Britain benefited from European Renaissance and Age of Enlightenment(many european powers like France,Spain where also involved in this revolution) where we took Gunpowder, the printing press, navigational equipment were all invented in China(sorry to thhe chinese.lool) but we developed and improved them. We took these ideas, and many others, much further as we became the first nation to harness the power of steam which in turn would unleash an Industrial Revolution and an avalanche of high quality, mass-produced goods that would flood the markets around the world. This also provided us a technology gap that non-European nations would found difficult to compete with. Precision-made muskets, rifles, machine guns, train locomotives, steam ships provided our relatively small and outstretched British armed forces with unparalleled advantages against our rivals..
We also had the advantage of being an island nation which gave us maritime adavantages and made us build/focus on navy, ship-building and sailing would be important skills and industries for us. Funny enough what made us the indiputed world powers/rulers is the Seven Years War of 1756 to 1763 where the Royal Navy took on the far richer and supposedly more powerful Kingdom of France and won. This made us the indisputed power in Europe and of course gave us room/space to expand/rule the world. Though i must confes the frenchies got their revenge when they helped our American subjects gain independence from us.

The only way you can destroy the west/U.S is militarily. The only way to do that in this modern world/days is economically/financially. Reason the west/U.S rightly consider China as their main long term rival , not Russia, though i know Russia is dieing to have that tittle. But sorry dont think we will give you that again. lol

Russia is a midget economically to be honest, Italy has a bigger/equal economy, france and Britain as well, despite we all having a far smaller population and land mass/resources than Russia. So yes militarily you are still our main nuissance, thats also because others still lag behind alot.lol but countries like China are catching up with you very fast though though. Some Chinese members on here even clim they are ahead of you militarily. The day they surpass you militarily(which isnt that far off to be honest) then you have nothing else to boast about.
