JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 6]

Hi All AF professionals!
I m a silent reader of this forum particularly JF-17 thread since it was thread-3 few years back.
I m not airforce but airline professional have keen interest in fighter. I like posts from @munir,mastan khan, aeronaut azadpakistan
I would like to know where does our JF-block-II stands vs Rafale? I know rafale has upper hand in engineTWR & more hard points but where does it match or exceeds?

Higher T.W.R is required for rapid climbing and dogfighting.If a jet is scrambled to intercept it 'll take-off in aerial combat condition(A.A.Ms which should be 4,without drop tanks or with 'em and then jettisoning them when in close proximity with enemy) or confronts a foe being already on patrol 'll also jettison dead weight.
Empty weight = 14,520 lb
PAC stated maximum thrust = 19,000 lbf
Maximum internal fuel = 5,140 lb
PL-5E Weight = 182.6 lb
SD-10A Weight = 437.8 lb

If you imagine 75% internal fuel and 4 missiles load then:
Empty Weight+75% Fuel+Missiles=Thrust
(14,520)+(3,850)+{(182.6+182.6)+(437.8+437.8)}=19,000
19,610.8=19,000

T.W.R = 19,000/19,610.8 = 0.96

Sure there 'll be some additional weight too but still if we add some extra, it's still very favorable
19,000/20,400 = 0.93

ssethii is right RAFALE has upper hand over JF-17 but a bright driver, tactical situation and a little bit of luck can change the whole game

A beast in making

PAF's JF-17 Thunder Block-II has been tested and will be certified to carry 3000lbs of extra weight on its stores. It takes the JF-17 Block-II into the 5 tonne payload fighter aircraft category.

JF-17 Thunder block-II is equipped with KLJ-7v2 X-band airborne fire control radar which has 150km range and powered by modified RD-93 turbofan engine.Block-II also has air refueling capabilities and its range will become (4000-5000km with air refueling).

Block-2 Unit cost is only (20-25 Million US dollars).

Weapons :
1-SD-10A BVRAAM (range 100km) .
2-PL-5EII short range infrared guided missile (range 18km).
3-MAR-1 Antiradiation missile which is used to destroy the air defence system of the enemy (range 100km).
4-Durandal anti-runway bomb.
5-C-802/803 Antiship cruise missiles in different variants.
6-CM-400AKG Hypersonic multipurpose air to ground missile.
7-GBU-10/12 Laser guided bombs.
8-LT-2 Laser guided bomb.
9-LS-6 GPS guided long range with glide kit air to ground 500kg bomb.
10-Mark series general purpose bombs.
11-CBU-100 Anti-armor cluster bomb.
12-Hafr-2 electro optical guided glide bomb.

JF-17 Thunder can carry Pakistani made RA'ad nuclear capable cruise missile.

But technology gap that we have do u believe can be compensated by luck an man behind the machine?
I have read experts comparing with F16b block but never read with rafale.
Do u think in dogfight with 4 bvr 2 wvr senario jf can compete.

Could you kindly provide the source for the 150Km range for KLJ-7(v)2 and for what RCS target and the range of 100Km for SD-10A?

Sir, Nobody here can depict the final outcome.Rafale is very capable and so is the JF in its own.You should go easy on this.

Unlike other missiles of its category, Wrecker is launched at higher altitude b/w 26,000 ft to 40,000 ft at mach 0.7 to 0.9 as stated by AVIC, and then steep diving on final approach.

PAC stated thrust is 19,000 lbs which is 84.51 kN.Klimov and United Engine Corporation(Parent company of Klimov) have written 8,300 kg(81.39 kN) on their sites.Only ALLAH, Chinese and air force know better.
