PLA to buy 700 stealth fighters, says Jane's Defence Weekly

He is correct to state 0 F35 is in operation. Even the date you posted mention 2015 will then be operation. You shooting yr own foot or you desperate to prove your US Master superiority?
Wonder what our Dutch air force pilots are flying then ...

Are we clear on the difference between operational and initial combat readiness?

The Marines will declare a combat-ready squadron when it’s equipped with between 10 and 16 jets and has trained pilots for missions such as close air support of troops. The Air Force will declare its first squadron ready when it’s equipped with at least 12 aircraft and combat-ready crews while the Navy needs at least 10 aircraft and equivalent crews.

I would very much appreciate a change in the way you addres a fellow poster, since I've not attacked anyone I do not feel I deserve a 'US puppet' treatment (and even if I had). If that's to much to ask, then go suck a lemon or something to cheer up.

Well 700 is really small number for a Giant country like China and now with so many enemies and growing it should be at least 1200

Oh ya, so why is India working on an ICBM? Pakistan and China are next door? Do not dodge the question.

are you nuts??ICBM(Agni-5 and next versions) are mainly China specific so that we can use it even from our sothern bases to attack China's northernmost point.Agni-5 doesn't have the range to attack USA.plus,ICBMs generally designed to attack from another end.plus, its also help us to build long range SLBM.by your logic,Russia and Ukraine should claim we're building ICBM to target them and next missile would target UK,Italy,Germany and France.but these are friendly countries,so they know that this weapon isn't directed against them.

Those F-35B will probably be partially operational by 2015, not fully operational, but official news will lie about things. The F-35 program, which is allegedly the world's most expensive weapons program or fighter jet program, is running into so many problems and being hyped up by so much propaganda.

The article states 300 J-20 and 400 J-31, that means that the J-31 was accepted by PLAA (Good news)
J-31 is much smaller than the J-20, and can be produced in big numbers, it is intended for exports too. Pakistan will get its share of the J-31 that is supposed to be ready and operational in about 2 to 3 years, may be a hundred or more in total, if it skips the J-20B/C.
China has the capacity to produce 50 or more J-31s per year. The production of J-20 might be a bit slower, maybe not, since it is "China's F-22". In any case, 700 aircrafts in this form will be an easy achievement for China if it gives it priority It might do it in 5/6 years due to its huge production capacity, considering that they will slow down the production of many other types of fighters they are producing now and put the effort on the production of the two stealth fighters.

Why in the world would a fighter aircraft produced domestically in China require forex reserves in the first place? You only need forex when you import something, like your PAK FA.
U import engines:azn:
and for operating thousands of these as u were saying , China have to Import OIL:azn::azn::azn:

you don't have subs to carry ICBM.

Correct me if I am wrong, but US is ordering 1763 F35s for their air force, 260 for their navy and 420 for their marine corps according to wiki. That's more than 2000 planes.

Do you think China cannot afford 700 planes? They are the 2nd largest economy and may surpass US in the future.
They can afford the price for 700 stealth fighter, but have you thought about the maintaining cost? Though I don't know how much they will cost for maintaining these plane, that will be an enormous figure.

I think now with so many enemies and growing it should be at least 12,000, I mean, honestly looking at their efforts to earn & grow enmity with all others. :)

Proper treatment. What kind of proper treatment when you show your bias towards India and US? When bashing China every time the opportunity arises. I have observe you long enough. You favouritism do not deserve any proper treatment.

It's obvious we are speaking regular English or colloquial English here, not legalese English, military English, or some other dialect or jargon of English. In common English situations, an "operational" device means the device is completely ready for usage, not barely ready, partially ready, or mostly ready. Are we clear here?

I would very much appreciate a friendlier change in the way you address your peers. We're not your subordinates, and we're not required to speak in your jargon. If you want the general public to understand your jargon (but not necessarily use them), then politely provide your jargons' definitions. Otherwise, it's your problem for stiffly walking around with a stick up your rear end.

Every F-35 type right now is not operational in the normal English sense. If you sell cars, computers, houses, or washing machines that are still in the prototype state, development level, incomplete design, or experimental stage, and you declare these products are operational, then your customers will be disappointed and will probably sue you for false advertisements or dishonest sales practices.

Your own sources said that the F-35 will be operational (read: regular English usage) or "combat-ready" by 2015 or later.

The United States alone will purchase 2,616 fifth-generation stealth fighters, including the F-22 and F-35 designed by Lockheed Martin, according to the article.
I am not sure if it will be a wise decision to replace all F16/15/18 with F35's. In my view, apart from the stealth factor there is no additional advantage in F35 which is absent in any of the teens. A complete phase out of the teen family will be horribly expensive and absolutely unnecessary. A more wiser decision, in my view, will be to replace max around 500 teens with F35s and upgrade the remaining fleet with AESA, ECCM and other goodies. Will cost a lot less and would make more sense also.

I don't think US will replace all their planes with f35. If I am wrong please correct me.

I challenge you to quote my alleged China bashing. Be my guest.

See Original post

It only provides some information, there is not 'tone' to begin with. Our chinese fellow poster sees fit to react to that in said manner. No surprise I change tone when responding to that. Do I recognize a banned user under different guise in your post?

Operational aircraft (device) and operational squadrons (unit) are 2 different things, imho. If 100 have been produced, more than 0 are operational by now. Check any aircraft type's history. However, that does not necessarily equate to combat ready squadron(s) in the various services. Happy now?
