The FGM-148 Javelin used to be all-infantry weapon, all that has changed. Now NATO vehicles will get the Javelin instead of TOW 2 or MILAN in the coming years

No tank is safe now

Now this is the true potential of javelin FnF missile.

Its will good to see them under Indian army possession

How many Javelins did India buy?
As of August 2014, India has launched the Modern ATGM Project worth over 2.5 billion US $. Under this project India will directly acquire 900 launchers and 3,200 missiles from USA. This will be followed by transfer of technology to Bharat Dynamics for indigenous manufacture of 1,014 launchers and 34,660 missiles.

MOD yet to announce the winner... right????

Are there any counter measures against this missile???

There are some possible counter measures against such a missile. Israel, USA, and Russia have developed systems known as an active protection system (APS) that detects the incoming missile with an AESA radar then fires an interceptor rocket which eliminates the threat.

Israel

USA

Russia

But since the Javelin is top-attack the APS will have a much harder time trying to intercept it

Not really something to cheer about. Javelins effective range is inferior to any MILAN or TOW ATGM, not to mention the costs for the missile and they take far longer to lockon targets if it has no clear IR source like buildings.

The only upside would be that IFV's did not have to idle while guiding TOW's into targets to avoid breaking wire guidance.

Says here that last year they increased the range of a javelin to 4,750 meters. That easily out ranges the Milan or TOW 2. Besides, the lethality of the Milan or TOW 2 are questionable since many modern armies are equipping their tanks with active protection systems and better armor. The Javelin will make it harder for an APS to engage it since it is top-attack. This feature is also what makes frontal or side armor Irrelevant for Javelin.

What countries have equipped their tanks with APS? Israel has but I haven't heard that any other country has equipped their vehicles with such protection systems.
