Its just suddenly came to mind :D I was wondering if its started by him personally(therefore a modern, media influenced stance), or a family view that predates revolution.

What about your family ? :D

ohh $hit i should't ask that question now the blade is on my shoulder ! :lol:

actually my mother is not nationalists at all she born in religious family in the other hand my father was total anti religious one (i just wonder how it came for them to merry ) btw after marriage my mother become less religious and my father become little bit more religious (at least he respect religion but that was all he never pray namaz or he never gone for mosque and he keep drink alcoholic drinks unlike my mother , she never drinks ) but my father far from nationalists u must tell me what do u mean by nationalists if u are talking about pan turkism no my father only respect for nationalists of his people and not all his people only those of his people whom live in his region

Well nationalism is not only about fierce political stance :D for example my father is not really an active political nationalist, but he's patriotic, he values Turkishness, Turkish history and culture etc.

@rmi5

Are your parents and grandparents were nationalists too ?

That's a too general question. it depends on how you define nationalism. In some senses, even my opinions are not much nationalistic. About my family, as I have previously said, we have Qajar roots, so the older generations of my family were more like intellectuals of that era. A couple of them are also famous, and more educated Iranian members will definitely know them. They were mostly secular liberals. They were reading books of people like voltaire, and were more into establishing a secular system than nationalism. another part of my family, has religious roots. But, if you refer to their opinions about Azerbaijan, all of them, both secular and religious always have had strong senses about Azerbaijan. I have been raised with that culture and mentality, and ...
But, if you ask in general about South Azerbaijanis, the younger generations are more nationalistic about Azerbaijan, and overwhelming majority is in favor of separating from Iran and joining Northern Azerbaijan. 1) The independence of North Azerbaijan, and also 2) the conflict with Armenians in Karabagh and 3) supporting of Armenia by Iranians, has had a big role in making southern Azerbaijanis more nationalists. Hopefully, North is in the route of progress which will Southerners even more nationalistic. If north can manage to free the karabagh, it would cause a massive wave of nationalism, ... in south as well ;)
