Govt Crackdown on the Islamabad protesters | Updates & Discussions

Army is playing a very positive role trying its best to 'Mediate' & ' Facilitate', the violence turned political crisis', and as far as this bull crap of PTI President Javed Hashmi, third class lota about Army Establishment backup to PTI / PAT, it should backup whoever 180m think are on the correct path, just, and fair DEMANDS...and it should provide all support to stop bloodshed to a peaceful resolution. I completely support ISPR statement.

ONE, that It was the government that asked the military to facilitate and mediate a dialog (according to your paper), two, that all NS government had to do was to respond to allegations of rigging six months ago (according to your paper - there was no army involvement then), third, the government should have allowed the registration of FIR against the killing of the political workers (according to your paper), fourth, just yesterday that the NS government has handled this whole thing very poorly (your paper)...a government with that kind of a record is bound to make everyone else look bad - it may be democratic and constitutional in your head but those are not the choices governments make when political challenges arise...

Army’s questionable decisions

The carefully constructed veneer of neutrality that the army leadership had constructed through much of the national political crisis instigated by Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri has been torn apart.

Also Read: ISPR statement reactions: Balanced, ominous - hedged?

First, came the army’s statement on Sunday, the third in a series of statements in recent days on the political crisis, which quite astonishingly elevated the legitimacy and credibility of the demands of Imran Khan, Tahirul Qadri and their violent protesters above that of the choices and actions of an elected government dealing with a political crisis.

Consider the sequence of events so far. When the army first publicly waded into the political crisis, it counselled restraint on all sides — as though it was the government that fundamentally still had some questions hanging over its legitimacy simply because Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri alleged so.

Next, the army crept towards the Khan/Qadri camp by urging the government to facilitate negotiations — as though it was the government that was being unreasonable, and not Mr Khan and Mr Qadri.

Now, staggeringly, the army has ‘advised’ the government not to use force against violent protesters and essentially told it to make whatever concessions necessary to placate Mr Khan and Mr Qadri.

It is simply extraordinary that it is the PAT and PTI supporters who want to break into and occupy state buildings, but it is the government that has been rebuked.

It’s as if the army is unaware — rather, unwilling — to acknowledge the constitutional scheme of things: it is the government that is supposed to give orders to the army, not the other way around.

The government has already issued its order: invoking Article 245.

On Saturday, as violent thugs attacked parliament, it was surely the army’s duty to repel them.

But the soldiers stationed there did nothing and the army leadership the next day warned the government instead of the protesters — which largely explains why the protesters were able to continue their pitched battles with the police and attacked the PTV headquarters yesterday.

If that were not enough, yesterday also brought another thunderbolt: this time from within the PTI with party president Javed Hashmi indicating that Mr Khan is essentially doing what he has been asked and encouraged to do by the army leadership.

It took the ISPR a few hours to respond with the inevitable denial, but a mere denial is inadequate at this point. The functioning of the state stands paralysed because a few thousand protesters and their leaders have laid siege to state institutions.

Where is the army condemnation of that?

Would the army allow even a handful of peaceful protesters to gather outside GHQ for a few hours?

The army is hardly being ‘neutral’. It is making a choice.

And, it is disappointing that choice is doing little to strengthen the constitutional, democratic and legitimate scheme of things.

Third CLASS Lota PTI President Javed Hashmi!!!

PTI chairman claimed that Nawaz Sharif was defaming the army and had alleged it was backing protests of PTI and PAT.

Continuing his allegations against Geo television network Imran Khan claimed “Nawaz Sharif, using Geo, tried to malign the ISI chief. Geo is N-league's media cell.”

“I approached all legal avenue to resolve the issue of poll-rigging but to no avail. The government kept employing delaying tactics but this is the real power that the government is now willing to accept all our demands except the prime minister’s resignation,” Imran Khan said. He added “But we will not go back until Nawaz Sharif resigns.”

PTI chairman Imran appreciated the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and their efforts, specially during the government crackdown on Saturday night. He urged them not to provide any reason for provocation of violence.

He said the eyes of the entire nation were on the supporters and requested PAT and PTI activists not to dash the hopes of the nation and to stay away from government buildings.

PTI respond to lota Hashmi’s revelations

Central Information Secretary Shireen Mazari has responded to Javed Hashmi’s revelations:

  • Imran Khan had parted ways with Javed Hashmi after the PTI President had called him a liar.

  • The PTI is adopting the party’s constitutional path by issuing a show cause notice to Hashmi.

  • If Hashmi thought PTI was linked to the army then he should have immediately resigned. There was no such talk in any meeting nor is there any such covert agenda.

  • Hashmi’s unfounded allegations are not grounded in facts.

  • The PTI’s protest has been peaceful, democratic and constitutional.

"Hashmi claimed that the PTI chief had been assured about support of five Corps Commanders." "I don’t have any evidence nor do I think the army is backing Imran, Hashmi added." This man has as much credibility as Pervez Rashid of PML (N) or ex interior minister , Rehman Malik of Zardari.

This is an editorial in DAWN? I never expected this newspaper to sink this low. Why dragging Army? The government has Police and Paramilitary at her disposal, she should use them. It was all started from two very simple and addressable demands:

1. Re-counting of votes in 4 constituencies.
2. Lodging FIR of model down victims.

Did Army ask the government not to open the 4 constituencies for re-counting or did Army ask the government not to lodge the FIR of the model town victims? If the answer is no,then why should Army clean up the mess that is created by the government?

Mr lota Javed Hashmi; the Army is not supporting the PTI but cannot abstain itself from supporting the 180 million people of Pakistan. The barbarism the Punjab police (some of whom were disguised as PML N workers) shows that only the Army is a credible institute in Pakistan. If the Army think that Khan and his party can change the fortunes of Pakistan in a positive way then they will not go against the PTI.

PMLN tried to play cleverly to drag unnecessarily Army into it....but fcks say....this is PMLN permanent end.

In my opinion:

1. Javed hashmi stance regarding outcome of the protest is correct. That was suppose to be the supreme outcome of the protest. The basic crux was to:
  • change the government through the supreme court judges (by declaring current government as incompetent/fraud/liar etc) and bring national government, having people of dignity;
  • National Government would be fully backed by the PA, and thus they would axe the wrong-doers/liars politicans/business man/judges etc instead of another NRO.
2. It was adopted, due to the following circumstances:
  • Current government has shown that they have failed to bring positive changes (they were given an year time-frame), in which they INFACT did nothing, except to take loan and promise to initiate the development projects;
  • Well, NS/SS is a liar, i would repeat it thousand times that government is liar, who even needs details, do you? ;
  • Finance Act, 2014-15 has failed miserably to increase the number of tax payer due to faulty/incompetent policies adopted, budgeted target of tax were never met. In fact, they took the loan from IMF? Do they even know IMF is the world organisation, whose only objective is to make country more dependable on loans, which can also be verified from this independent excerpt: "As a result of World Bank and IMF policies, average incomes in Africa have declined, and the continent’s poverty has increased. Africa’s debt crisis has worsened over the past two decades, as the failure of World Bank and IMF intervention has left African countries more dependent than ever on new loans. These institutions have also undermined Africa’s health through the policies they have imposed. Forced cutbacks in spending on health care, and the privatization of basic services, have left Africa’s people more vulnerable to HIV/AIDS and other poverty-related diseases."; (IMF is blood-sucking monster, I would be happy if someone jolt down list of countries who took IMF loan, and due to those IMF loan are now fully developed countries!)
  • They were told several times to bring reform economically by bringing good-faith people and adopted changed/visionary policies, they failed miserly;
  • No reforms in polices/education/health/ loan repayment/ broadening tax base. They have failed to punish corrupt bureaucrat, businessman, lawyers etc. They failed to keep inflation low, loads-shedding controlled. Now the only question is what exactly they did for poor or ordinary people of Pakistan?
3. They have successfully camouflage the operation zarb-e-azb, now imagine for a second, BBC/CNN showing many kids being killed. people living in those areas dieing of hunger/diseases, and have no where to go. Imagine, when the show to the world that they are not only displaced but also not welcomed to any other province of Pakistan. That is the greatest success of the planners. Planners have achieved this goal!!!

4. They has successfully, unlinked terrorists with the masterminds, who were giving directions for attacking/bombing/suicide bombing. Who else has observed that since operation zar-e-azb and this PTI/PAT drama has started, bomb/suicides/attacks has gone to almost to zero! This was also one of the ultimate objectives of the planners!

I have noticed people has personal issues with IK, call themselves neutral but jump the gun as soon as there is -ve lime light and never praise +ve actions.
On the other hand they turn a blind eye to all kind of ill activities from others.

So where's the crackdown?

Who is responsible for managing the media? Why are they inciting hatred and violence? Will anyone go after the channels and the anchors reporting bullshit stories?

They are toying with our emotions and should be held accountable.

Look how we've fallen from our moral level..... Yes we have difference of opinion or having different view on this situation but massacre is not justified at any cost.... They are humans and protesting for their rights how could you call them cockroaches and talking about flush out.
Seriously? There has been worse happening on the very forum from a few days.
If mob attacking state is a massacre then killing taliban would also count in the same category.
Your freedom ends where the state begins.

I am ready for all they will do against me as i believe in only one entity called ALLAH. The people are awake so come at me if you can. says imran khan.

American State Dept. has crossed their limits.

We have shown restraint for the past 1 YEAR.

Remember what Dana Loesch said about pissing on the dead bodies. Consequently, how many British innocent people died and suffered after 2012 floods? We TOLD YOU FEW MONTHS AGO THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN. You can print money. That is not the problem. But you can't bring back those people. They certainly are not with Jesus as we speak.

Our warnings to America and Israel past 1 year are being ignored. We have tried my best to remain calm and preach harmony.

We won't be giving the next deadline. I am saying right now - DO NOT EVER INTERFERE AGAIN. We know you have been doing it constantly. We also know who you gave the $$$ to within Pakistani judiciary.

We cannot remain calm anymore. JEN PSAKI - Wait for my next post. It will be because of this interference that another round of innocent people will die. I am gonna find out where the mother nature will strike next and post here. Don't you worry.

“[The] COAS was asked by the Govt to play [a] facilitative role for resolution of current impasse, in yesterday’s meeting, at #PM House.”

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan claimed that the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement was released after consultation and approval by the government, Express News reported.

Nisar claims ISPR issued statement after govt approval – The Express Tribune

August 30, 2014

He said the ISPR statement was released after consultations with him and the prime minister’s approval.

Imran, Qadri have faith in no institution except army: Nisar - thenews.com.pk

-----------------------------

September 1, 2014:

ISPR has categorically rejected the assertions that Army and ISI were backing PTI/PAT in anyway in the current political standoff. Army is an apolitical institution and has expressed its unequivocal support for democracy at numerous occasions. It is unfortunate that Army is dragged into such controversies.Integrity and unity of the Army is its strength which it upholds with pride.

Welcome to ISPR

-------------------

So as per above, ISPR issues press releases after consultations with the government. So now what does the government say about who is backing the protestors.
