Us is not that might as once it was. if iran take this case to international court then they will get support from china and russia. and they can justify the action (if Iranian navy fire/sink USCG vessel) their. and US had never attack a country with Nuks. iran is said to have it. so i don't think us will cause any major problem to iran. and use is also preoccupied by other problems.

I wonder if those guys opened fire on each other which one could inflict more damage.
sending inflatable boat against suspected ship is a little strange if they were pirates or smuggler the guys in that boat had no chance at all.

By the way a fishing Dhow have the capacity of 5-20ton and in news they said it targeted one of its machine guns at the boat . I wonder if they are sure that it was not a cargo dhow with a capacity of 100-700 ton ? a fisherman is not that trigger happy to open fire on a ship that is clearly not a pirate and a fisherman is not to much in danger of pirates ,they are poor and no pirate is fool enough to go after them but a cargo dhow specially a big one even can carry millions of Dollar of goods so it make sense protecting them with several machine gun ,and its not uncommon among them to smuggle something as side-job for some extra credit . and when they do that they are a little twitchy and possible for them to do something foolish as pointing gun toward a military vessels .
to be honest the only thing they needed do was contact them and tell them they are not authorized to board their ship and as they were in international water and both country want to avoid any unnecessary conflict with each other we didn't heard of such incident at all.
