Modern Day Slavery: The exploitation of Qatar's migrant workers

There's hardly any evidence, if I was stuck in a foreign land without documents I'll go to my country's embassy and they'll take care of me, unless you're saying south governments don't look after their people, then that's another story.

They take away their passports. Go watch some Vice documentaries.

Im stating facts not opinions, therefor I can't lie even if i want to.
Yes indeed, just because you say there's no worker exploitation in Qatar, makes the absence of exploitation, a fact. Just because you consider the Govt's official report(s) as in two acknowledging and detailing it, as false, makes it falsehood, a fact. Because, you consider Guardian reports as biased, makes its biaseness, a fact.

Do you use an alternative definition of fact as being anything which you say?

There shall be no world cup in Qatar-
Bring it to Saudi-

shutup..
one of my cousin who was just secondry pass went to KSA for company there he worked but his passport was taken and salary was given after 6 or 8 month... he came to pak after 3 year and was so much ill that he died after 3 days and he was just 27..

you can also see discrimination for educated people also when white person get more salary then indian or pak..
both having same qualification..
The passports are taken from you, that's right. However, you can as per the law quit anytime you want but you get to pay the fine of the termination of the contract first which you signed and agreed on it's terms before. Nobody can force you to work against your will.

Anyway, I agree Indians and South Asians in general live in inhumane conditions. I was shocked when I knew that cleaning workers get 250 SAR/month.

This is an obvious lie man. I live and work there. The contract is automatically terminated as soon as you don't get your monthly salary in the 3rd month and you can transfer your sponsorship to any other employer you want.

I am talking about pay-scale of people with same qualifications.

A medical doctor from U.S and a medical doctor from Pakistan--with exact same degrees--will get different pays. No?
That's true, they have the same qualifications on paper but SURELY they don't have the same skills. American doctors are way better than Egyptian or Pakistani doctors at least in people's eyes, some patients do not even consider Arab or South Asian doctors because they had or heard bad experiences with them. Hell, I visited an Egyptian doctor and he couldn't cure my simple allergic skin rash and gave me a moisturizer o_O, my friend's arm was broken and doctors made it worse. We both had decided to visit doctors as soon as we got home. Now, I don't believe in expatriate doctors in the KSA at all.

The contract is not terminated automatically-
After 3months without pay- You have to go to labor ministry to plead your case-
They decide if they can make the company pay or you join another one-

The 3month law you are talking about is the new one introduced very recently- very very recently- i say introduced- yet to be fully implemented and i believe he is talking about what happened before that-

And yeah they take our passports- like it or not- they take it-
though its illegal according to saudi law- who cares?-

While you are probably right that on the whole American doctors might probably be better, it would surprise you that in some fields, Indian doctors would be a much better choice. For example, if one needed coronary bypass surgeries or pediatric heart surgery, you would probably be better off seeing a doctor in India than one in the U.S. Not because the Indian doctor is naturally better but because both he & his team is likely to be vastly more experienced than any doctor & team in the U.S. The sheer volume of cases they deal with sharpens their skills to very high levels. Some Indian doctors do more surgeries in a year than many American/Western doctors would do in the course of their entire practice.

Dude,

same qualifications on paper? LOL.

I don't know about Arab world, but you do know that in Pakistan--the surgery exam (FCPS) is standardized training program EXACT SAME as Western European one--and even the books for FCPS comes from United Kingdom. Right?

I know people very close in my family who took FCPS exam in Pakistan..struggled to clear it...but did it. And then went on to take U.K MRCS surgery exam (the highest degree of medicine U.K can offer)..and their remarks were "Compared to FCPS, MRCS is a piece of cake" ....I'm not kidding.

Pakistani Surgeons with certified FCPS surgery degree are no less than U.K surgeons...because both degrees are exact same thing with exact same books/training/materials/procedures.

FCPS = Fellow of college of Physicians and Surgeons (Pakistan)

MRCS = Member of Royal College of Surgeons (United Kingdom).

You know the funny thing? : My father had BOTH of the above degrees and he still got paid less than "whites" who were under-qualified than him and he was actually their supervisor (I am not kidding. Literally. My father had people working UNDER him who got the "Western package" and got paid more. My father worked under "Pakistani package" whose pay was less. Even with the top European degree, my father didn't qualify for "Western package" because he wasn't white by birth and his package remained lower than less-experienced whites. Although Western surgery degree gave him a good bump in salary lol)

:azn:

You see, the only problem here is that I know Saudi system more than many Saudis here themselves. Stop making excuses for Saudia. I don't criticize them. Their country, their rules. But stop trying to pretend as if Saudis do not take whites as their gods and that Saudi's policies are rational.

There is clear crystal discrimination in Saudi Arabian system against non-whites. Whites are considered superior just for being from a certain geographical area. And Saudis don't even hide it. They admit it openly.

@Hyperion might wanna look at this post.

You know why he quit? ... his vehicle was hit by an americans car... the fag shurtas filed a complaint against him rather than the american who was at fault.. he quit n now runs his own business here in Pakistan...

That much white obsession.

Did the few workers who were subject to this complain ? or did they take it up the *** without saying a word ? That's their faults.

Their fault for NOT complaining?
You know how brutal it can get?
Migrant workers have no power or representation.
