INDO-US Trade War : India prepares to battle US pressure on trade laws

Damn fine read!

You truly have to applaud India's stand on these issues. Many Indians try to malign their own government and make out they are incompetent across the board and this instance just goes to highlight this fallacy.

India is not bowing to the US' bullying and is showing the developing world how it's done.

Then INdia should develop its OWN resources and capabilities instead of stealing, copying and infringing on patent rights...

Yep, I have to admit I am quite impressed with India's tough stance against the USA after the diplomat arrest issue, and now the threat of sanctions issue.

It is both unexpected and impressive.

India didn't copy , it nearly told US the molecule of drug you seeking for patent extension is not new and the patent for present drug is expired as per International law. So patent extension can be granted.

US get ferocious , how come Indian say to BIG daddy..... but forget , when India came to its own even american will eb running around the world here n there

LoL ! while pakistan bend over backwards after US mercilessly gunned down troops at salala ( no disrespect to them ), its pretty rich coming from incorrigible trolls like you !

Just a case to think about. Although turmeric has been granted patent ( although I am not sure if u are making it up considering that pakistanis are pathological liars but I will give u a leeway this time ) but cite me an instance when the same company has been granted a patent AGAIN for a turmeric chutney !

While I applaud the govt's stand on this issue, the MMS govt was guilty of trying to dilute the nuclear liability law to favor the interests of US suppliers over its people.

Im **** nor a troll. Is it hard to believe Im an Indian? Why? Because I point out the flaws in our arguements? There was a patent for turmeric in the US, It was successfully fought by India. This issue regarding patents and meds is much bigger and more complex to grasp. It requires the entire system to be dismantled and rebuilt from the bottom up.

Issue at hand is about ever-greening ! As i said, whoever the turmeric patent was granted to haven't got another patent on top of it for a turmeric based product !

W/e if you read carefully ....biotechnology has allowed 15,000 patents to be created based off turmeric. And the intial patents for turmeric were given to 2 Indian Americans!

Don;t cry like a Biaatch and change the positions of the issue. Its all inclusive.

the f00k are u rambling about !

IPR rules are different and those patents were given in US not in India.

Significant safeguards are present in WTO guidelines where a State's govt policy will have primacy over the fact that the patent has been granted or not in another country !

Seems you need to get versed with WTO guidelines ! please read it thanks ! I will be glad to be corrected but so far nothing !

Our nuclear liability law needs to be tweaked on a few aspects, it is, what you can say, a bit 'rigid' when compared to international norms.

Civil nuclear deals are critical for securing our energy requirements, this needs to be addressed.

Did the parliament pass rigid law knowingly ?

We have seen what happened after Bhopal tragedy ...our law has been shaped based on past experiences ...
If French have openly expressed readiness to work within Nuclear liability law ...why we should give leeway to other countries ?

our laws are fully compliant with the agreement of the WTO.
India has never deviated..never diluted it.
India follows"due process” before issuing the compulsory license unlike the U.S...which has issued such licenses through executive authority several times.
Under the Indian Patents Act if the government considers a drug to be unaffordable by the nation's general population,it can issue a CL (compulsory license) and grant permission to companies to manufacture a generic version at a fraction of the cost of the original drug.
And according to norms set by the WTO....if it is in the public interest such a license can be awarded by a national government without the consent of the patent owner.
So lets drag US to WTO.:coffee:

That's good move but international medicine giants are not happy about this.

Let them reduce their prices then.
For these behemoth pharma companies patients can only be RICH,ones who cant afford to pay are as good as cockroaches who can be trampled upon.

Indian Land , Indian Law , and now stop crying ... when someone come with law book US started crying for mama, when IT dept came for US school they started running from media also. India will throw rule Book in Uncle SAM face and uncle SAM will say he forget how to read, and started again running.
