Guys, this is a first for me, Afridi scoring 12 runs from one ball.
Never knew such rules existed.

Telstra dome Melbourne :D

I have been there , its a one big hell of a stadium.

There are no such rules in T20!

AFAIK, and judging from some comments, it was apparently a charity match played in an indoor stadium and they had certain rules (just like our gully cricket - hit the tree, 2 runs, hit the fence - 4 runs, hit outside the compound and you are out!) Hit the stands, u got 8 runs, hit the roof, bam! 12 runs!!
Shahid Afridi hit 12 runs in Single ball.
Shahid Afridi was the first player to hit 12 runs in single ball.He was playing in Charity match in Millenium stadium(Cardiff, Wales). He hit this stroke in Power League Tournmant. In this tournment player can hit 4,6,8 and 12 runs per shot.

it was a charity game, and it had some modified rules like hitting to a certain height with score you 12 runs or so..

Thanks Gubbi. He also did hit an eight.

That was a charity match and if i remember correctly (not sure) it was neither a standard team nor standard ground nor standard rules. 12 runs were declared for the heighest place somewhere in the cieling. There was eighter as well in that match:cheers:

well dear i didn't knew that these rules were applied in other parts of the world as well.. (the gully cricket rules) ... we call it galli or street cricket... realy a fun.. and about afridi well i remember that match... i saw it live on TV.. and there were not only 6's but 8's as well :partay:

i would die of happiness if we have such gigantic stadiums like this one. some big a$$ stands and big grounds not necessarily round. PPL should make these standiums it would be a successful idea.

what rubbish layout we have in the present cricket stadiums, looks like "gharibon ka stadium" or stadiums of the poor, cricket has changed a lot when it used to be played by nobels in queen victoria's time. now its a professional game and also played for commercial reasons like IPL. why dont we change the poor layout of cricket stadiums??

Waiting for such celebrations...............

Cricket is a religion in the subcontinent! All you need is three stones or a square on the wall, a ball and a flat pad with a handle and you are set to go to play cricket!!

Its easier with a rectangle on the wall (no keeper though) than 3 stones (always resulted in fights because the bowler claimed the ball went "through" the stumps and the batsman claimed that the ball went "over" the stumps!)

You've got short pitch, long pitch, one bounce catch out, hit a six - but you are out, break neighbor's windows, neighbor aunty not returning the ball - sometimes puncturing the ball with kitchen knife and what not!

Thats the fun part of gulli cricket, you can play it anywhere, with almost anything and bend and make rules as it pleases - provided all the players grudgingly agree! Democracy at its best!
