Today on 12th october 1999, the military general pervaiz musharraf over threw the people's elected representative govt of Mian M. Nawaz Sharif and sat himself as the military dictator and ruled the country illegal and then rectified himself through the PCO order till was sent forcefully out by lawyer's movement.

his rule over the country, despite economic progress made under his dictatorship, is marked as dark period of the country, as dictators have always coup the elected governments in Pakistan by the force of military institution.

hoping for democracy to continue and the military to learn its lesson and donot repeat its mistakes and let the system run.

As political activists, we from PTI, PMLN, PPP, ANP and MQM, all stand united against dictators from Pakistan military.

That was the great decision by army leadership ... And BTW IK had supported it :azn:

True, it was not the best thing to do but the PML-N government had also gotten power-drunk. The trioka of the 1990s was unsustainable and I believe Musharaf's era was our last martial government. In case the Talibs don't overrun us that is.

Cool. You'll all, eventually and down the line, have to be taken good care of anyway. Nice to have you all in one boat.

Quite Ironic that on this Black Day the Whole nation Celebrated .. Sweets were Distributed as people were so Happy they got rid of Corrupt Politicians ..

It was anything but a Black Day .. Democracy has Done NOTHING for this country .. stop Glorifying it .

Why do you believe that ? it's just 5 year post mush ! Wait for 12-15 years then we can say that.

So did when musharrfo was thrown out.

Death to Dictators and their marshall law!

bunch of mountain guerrillas are no threat to the mighty state of Pakistan.

and yes, I believe too that it was the last time marshal law ever took place in Pakistan. InshAllah..

You are right here in a sense that,it's rather an immature sapling. But the seed was sown long before in that dark period of dictatorship. One good thing that happened in that decade was Musharaf himself involuntarily to some extent closed the door of any boot coup via the decisions he made and the steps he took himself.

Enough is enough. The ground is clear for the politicians.Past experiences have made the leadership of current political parties rather mature and since they are almost the same individuals heading their respective parties there is mutual sense of cooperation among them to hamper any unconstitutional act and save the rights of those "Bloody" civilians and one amongst those rights is the right to govern.

As they say, deer ayad durust ayad (देर आयद दुरुस्त आयद ), better late than never.

Yes you are correct in the sense that their is a overt/covert consensus(charter of democracy 06 en all) among the political parties that democracy should prevail but the civil-GHQ divide is still there and we have the kerry lugar bill as a helper to democracy, things could change post 2014-15 .

Still ISI is not under the PM in actual sense ,FP and indo-afgan issues are still handled by pindi.

Btw i would like to know what steps mush took that no further coup could be done ? :)

Thanks

Democracy was never given a proper chance.

You can't plant a trees and uproot them before they grow properly and then ask, why aren't they baring fruits yet?

never given a chance?

:)))))) the issue is that coups have been made with support of democratic political parties.
