Aselsan, Turkey’s leading defense electronics manufacturer by market capitalization, is preparing to show off the improved version of its Kaplan (“Tiger”) unmanned demolitions vehicle in the IDEF 2013 international defense fair.

The improved Kaplan features a longer operational range, electro-optics and robotic durability, as well as a new generation soil penetrating 3D radar that can detect explosives hidden several feet underground or inside thick boxes and packages. Kaplan also comes equipped with an extremely ergonomic, sensitive robotic arm with seven actuators for optimum operational capability and HD cameras that can provide its remote operators a live video feed from up to 500 meters.

Already operation with the Turkish police national police force counter-terrorism and demolitions units, Kaplan’s water-tight hull and tracks allow it to pass through puddles of water while powerful motors allow it to easily drive over steep terrain.

“Several countries possess the technology to build demolitions bots of this scale. But Kaplan is currently the cutting-edge thanks to its integrated 3D radar that makes identification of bombs a breeze.” said an Aselsan spokesman interviewed by TR Defence.

Aselsan hopes to sign at least one export deal of the new, improved Kaplans in IDEF 2013.

Along with the various arms produced at the local facilities, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense Industry will exhibit two various models of light machine guns at IDEF-2013 in Istanbul on May 7-10. The Ministry told APA that one of them is UP-7.62 which is included in the armament of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, another is HP-7.62, which was produced by local engineers and currently is being tested. UP-7.62 was exhibited at IDEF-2011 for the first time. HP-7.62 will be demonstrated at the international exhibition for the first time.

7.62x54 mm caliber UP-7.62 (universal machine gun) has been designed for combined arms. It is the modernized form of Kalashnikov machin egun produced by the former USSR. This machinegun has a charger for 100 and 200 cartridges and is equipped with a special rail for deploying optical vision systems. UP-7.62 is capable of 650 shootings in a minute and its weight is 7,5 kg. It is possible to destroy targets at the distance of 1500 meter with the help of optical targeting coordinator. 7.62x54 mm caliber HP-7.62 (offensive machine gun) is designated by local engineers for special operations forces and intelligence officers. According to the design, it is completely different from Kalashnikov machine guns included in the army’s armament. The barrel of the machine gun is relatively short. The Picatinny rail deployed on receiver cover will allow adding collimator, laser targets and other accessories. The shooting distance of HP-7.62 is 1000 meter, weight – 7 kg and length - 1080 meter."]7.62x54 mm caliber UP-7.62 (universal machine gun) has been designed for combined arms. Damn! I don't care about the others. My eyes are pointed to; Mehmetcik-1, TF-2000 and the 2A4's upgrade program which will make them equal to 2A6, I guess :)

what you say is like MILGEM. There isn't such a ship class called MILGEM. But people call it MILGEM instead of calling it Ada-class corvette. Well the project's official name is MPT. But the official designation is Mehmetcik-1.

What about the TFX???????
