What's new

what iis the current status about the long range air defence missile deal

Turkey wouldnt purchase the S-300.
It's looking for 'new' technology.

Patriot PAC 3 is a strong contender.
It would also be my choice.

These missiles are already in Turkey and are deploying as we speak as a part of the NATO defense of Turkey from Syria.
Officials and other personnnel can get to know them and maybe see them in action if Syria does decide to launch a G2G missile at the camps or further into Turkey.

Most of our equipment is American.
There is no need to add a major Russian weapons system to our inventory (S-400).

Nuclear plant, long range air defence missile deal ,F-35.....

everything delayed.........

Of course it's your choice, but i don't think that the Pentagon would allow turkey to go with Russia or China

And how exactly? No Nato integration boohoo.
How can you even talk about allowing a country something or not? After all There is a reason why Americans tell everyone they're Canadian when they're in foreign countries.

Again? Didn't you read my post."of course it's your choice" I said. I also said the possible reaction from DoD. Correct me if i'm wrong genius

such a contradictory posts :) yes, it's our choice. And last time i checked Pentagon wasn't calling the shots for Turkey's arms procurement policies :) If Raytheon loses the tender, they can keep bitchin' all they want. It won't bring anything back.

"Nato integration" is important because it's our whole infrastructure. Must be compatible with our radar systems and stuff.

So what You're saying it's your choice but the USA will probably not allow it? That's contradicting and arrogant isn't it?

Ok let's put it this way.
America will be mad if we start purchasing mother Russia equipment.

Also America has taken care of us since the early days of NATO.
Let's be loyal customers.

Don't we still receive roughly 2 billion in defense funding yearly?

I'm not trolling sir.
I didn't know we stopped taking aid.
Hence the question mark.

Everything else I stated is correct.
America will not be happy to lose one of it's best customers to a rival not to mention a strategic friend.
America has sold us nearly all of our weapons systems in the past.

You are obviously a fan of USSR/Russian technology.

It's not about America or Russia, it's about national security of Turkey. Some of us better understand that.

You are right.
Turkey should purchase the best air defense system money can buy.
However there are other factors.
We are a NATO member. We need interoperability.
3 members of NATO have the PAC 3 and others have the earlier versions.
Which country has S-300/400 in NATO? None.
