International Community must intervene to stop persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar: Imran Khan

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Imran Khan has strongly condemned reported atrocities committed against the Rohingya Muslim community in Myanmar.

In a statement issued in response to local and international media reports suggesting widespread killings of Muslims, he said that persecution of a particular community in such manner is blatant violation of fundamental humanitarian principles. Burmese government s silence on mass killings of Rohingya Muslims is disturbing.

Imran Khan urged the Pakistani government to mobilize diplomatic efforts on urgent basis to stop the potential genocide of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

He also urged local and international human rights organizations to fight against the potential genocide of the community. Imran Khan warned that continued persecution of the community in Myanmar will fuel communal hatred both locally and internationally.

He urged the international community to pressurize the Burmese government to take urgent measures for ending the massacre of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.

My leader represents me, Imran fcuk the world !!

Instead of bellyaching, what has Pakistan done? Why only depend on the international community to bring pressure on the Burmese government? Why not cut all diplomatic ties with them?

Just talking isn't going to improve the situation. Action is what counts. Burma being in a forgotten part of the world, no one cares a damn! And the pogrom will continue.

Thats a very hostile tagline for a national leader!
I see it's attracting a lot of Indians who love to use One liners.

Last time I checked, Imran Khan is not the president of Pakistan and does not decide our foreign policy. Take any complaints to the Zardari topics we have

IK trying to score some points on Pakistani emotions.

Rather put pressure on govt. to take action and make joint effort with other Islamic nations to get Myanmaar on back foot. When US imposes sanctions, its allies do the same, why not GCC, Pakistan, Iran work for common cause. Protecting Muslims in Myanmaar. They could dictate their terms by just using their oil supply.

Not going to happen as Myanmar themselves are gas exporters. Myanmar is sitting on large reserves of both gas and petroleum and many countries are participating in exploring those reserves.

I had posted before that Rohingyas' interests will be ignored at the altar of the geopolitics. That is the sad truth. I feel for these people as it is ethnic cleansing happening in Myanmar since 1962.

If they were muslims, then people would call them terrorist, and US would have attacked them to take over their oil and gas. But non-muslims are exempted from these name calling and attacks. Only muslim countries are supposed to be attacked and then call them terrorists. And still we don't have any rights to hate these americans and bloody UN who are supposed to protect everyone rather then non-muslims only

Bloody geo-politics...

@Topic

Atleast someone has the guts to talk against this act. Sympathy, non-practical steps what ever, but atleast he said something for Rohingya Muslims, which no one cares

What if Myanmar expresses concern over violence in Baluchistan or Kashmir?? I might be wrong but I think first one should set our own house in order before donning the preacher’s clothes :)

Sorry. U.S is Usain Bolt here. Imran is Tyson gay - coming in second.(Olympic spirit has taken over me) . Check the news. U.S provided $3 million for the affected areas, Clinton asked Myanmar pres. to resolve the Rohingyas issue.

The Myanmar state has been trying to kick out the 'outsiders' since a long time. They kicked out the Indians and India took them back. Otherwise the Indians there would have been in the position of Rohingyas too.

Bottom line - nobody wants the Rohingyas, everybody wants to cry victim using the Rohingyas.
