Pakistan Railways to get engines from India

PR went for GE engines and Chinese bogies, no point of reviving an old thread
Sir, unfortunately, there is a lobby in pakistan which considers purchasing cheap chinese locos...:(..though my point here was, that, pakistan should seriously consider purchasing/leasing WDG-4(diesel) or even powerful WAP-7(6300 hp electrical)...they are proven and have stood the test of time...and perfectly suited for indian subcontinental climatic conditions

We ourselves are importing lots of Diesel engines from other countries and tender has been floated because Varanasi plant only has production capacity of 150-200 diesel engines/year which could not fulfill the requirement of Diesel engines for Indian Railway. It would be unwise to lease or sell diesel engines to other countries. But we have sufficient electric engine production, we should export electric engines to other countries.

But Pakistan can go to Argentina or Chile for engine lease, they too use Indian Gauge.
Sir, there is no need of any extra diesel engines from abroad because, india is rapidly electrifying itz rail network, and about 80% has already been electrified as of now, infact, IR wants to replace all of itz loco fleet with WAP-7s, though their production rate is gloomingly slow...:(...
Btw, I seriously never heard that IR is thinking of purchasing "diesel" engine from abroad...
Care to shed some more light? Sir

Metro engines don't have to haul 26 boggies or 3000 tonnes of load...their working environment is completely different...
Besides, I don't think, except mumbai metro, we use chinese coaches...
Thirdly, chinese locomotives are really crappy and stand no where near either GE or our indian WDG-4

Now, we have Bombardier manufacturing unit and India and BEML also purchased licence for Metro bogies, I think we don't need to buy metro trains from China in future.

Hi everyone, i think we should sell railway to any private holding and save time n resources, its obselete technology, we should encourage air travel give some incentive to boost business

amardeep mishra;2708105]majority of indian as well as pakistani, populace travel by train, and unfortunately, pakistan has never given appropriate focus on heavy industries which could feed the technology driven locomotive manufacturing sector(like the way india did with BHEL, CLW) etc...there is a dire need of locos in pakistan and thats not gonna go away unless they locally master the manufacturing technology...
And for that they should have companies like BHEL, which could supply them with huge traction motors, engine components manufacturers indigenous ly using local technology and skilled workforce
Peace

only 33% of route length and 50% of tracks are electrified but I think 80% is about the traffic through electrical lines through major trunk lines. They are going to buy 9000HP and 12000HP diesel engines which India don't produce right now.

Pardon my ignorance, butFrom which company? I would like to know the company...because i myself never heard of such deal

It sounds so wierd, I mean the 9000 hp "diesel" engine..and I don't think, india is importing it...anyways, I would still like to know more about this issue...

Last years budget I heard India will import diesel engines but the tender was about new locomotive plant in Bihar.

9000 and 12000 hp are electric engines to be imported for its freight corridor

diesel ones to be imported are also very powerful, but they are rated at 6000 hp.

Yes, the Benaras Locomotive Factory. But Pakistan needs to be careful. India had supplied us old locomotives with fresh paint. This was a huge scandal with media reports running for months. Happened couple of years back, therefore cannot provide a link.

Please provide the link liar.

I don’t think India will be in position to provide Engines to Pakistan coz of high domestic demand.
