The EADS corporation has decided to stop the development of the Talarion UAV, potentially opening an additional market for Israeli-produced UAVs

The European corporation EADS has decided to significantly decrease its investments in the development of the Talarion European UAV, a move that significantly increases the chances for the export of Israeli-produced UAVs to Europe.

An Israeli source stated, "Theyve understood that its not enough to have technical information, you need to know how to make the system operational, and thats the key trick." According to additional Israeli sources, the decision by EADS opens a considerable market for Israeli UAVs.
The development of the Talarion was the result of cooperation between the EADS corporation and the Turkish aeronautics industry. However, it encountered considerable difficulties, and the corporation decided several days ago to halt the project. However, the development of accompanying technologies will continue.

Louis Gallois, CEO of EADS, said several days ago that a country or two cannot afford the development of such a system themselves, and that there is need for a European UAV program, or Europe will continue to purchase UAVs from the United States and from Israel."

France and Germany are already operating Israeli UAVs produced by companies such as Elbit Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries. Furthermore, the British Watchkeeper project is based on Elbit Systems' Hermes-450 UAV.

Personnaly i think its nothing more then israeli propaganda, So i wouldnt worry about it. Just wanted to highlight you guys :)

is this thing in any way related to incident where a french technician lost a brief case?
that brief case contain top secret data on future European UAV

But I am sure that PAC is going to proceed with more and more UCAVs program in near future as well.

EU I think near future is going to bought things from US and other countries as they are facing many halts in many projects. I hope that Muslim countries could take advantage and hire their expertise for producing high tech equipment in their own countries.

I think since this program is shutting down.... India should get the Tech know how from the company or employ those who were involved in core development.

The Talarion is a Medium-altitude long-endurance[3] (MALE) unmanned air vehicle, designed by EADS (With technological support from Turkish Aerospace Industries) to meet future European military needs for reconnaissance, intelligence, and surveillance. EADS has run a preliminary design review, and is awaiting orders.[5] The source of the name is the Talaria - the winged sandals of the Greek Messenger God Hermes.

I hope so too... Those techinicans and engineers could be hired for TAI.

Nations of the east always the one who suffered from brain drain, we never could gain anything from that but maybe with this we could gain something. :)

bro, its their ( EADS ) problem! not our's! other than some technical support, we have no commitment!

It would be beneficial to us if this project could be finished... We could have access to blueprints of this with only our knowledge on programing...

Hope the news is false. :)

When your relations with Israel were pretty good....why didn't you engage in some significant joint ventures (in the drone's context) with them ?

Because the French and the Brits are collaborating in their own joint UCAV program, and pulled out of the Talarion program. The French and the Brits signed on this when Cameron visited France recently. This move pissed off Germany.

yeah but thats should have encouraged the germans more insted of cancelling the Talarion program. And lets be honest here even if France and Britain collaborate, German Technology (Even with UAV) is superior to theres so whats to worry about in the first place?
