I'm 15 and i live in California US. I'm athletic and also play sports in high school such as american
football. I have high marks in school, so it would be easy to go to college, but i would rather have
the pride of being a soldier for my country. So what is the process. I was born in the United states
so i don't read or write Urdu. I can speak Urdu rather well. So what is the training like? and what is
the salary? do they give benefits like the US does to its soldiers? i am interested in joining the Pakistan air force or army. so what would i need to do? and how old do i have to be to join? any tips or suggestion? thank you

Well, Pakman.. if you consider Pakistan "my country" then why are you in California? Seems to me the first step in becoming a soldier for another country would be to go live there.

The answer is in the first couple of words of the first sentence.

He's fifteen, can you not read?

I say join US army as for pakistan...you can still be loyal to it ;)

i think you should forget about serving , grow up a bit , learn where your loyalties should actually lie ,then if you still want to . go ahead.:)

i am sorry to say this but you are a born american....your loyalty should be towards USA not Pakistan.....

Sense of belonging is abstract.. recall how Muslims who were born in India migrated to Pakistan with all of their loyalty and love for the land they had never lived in.

Sorry-

We rightly do not allow such joining- the individuals loyalty always remain doubtful- and confused-

VCheng is a good example- why not to allow Amrikan citizens in the Army-

So, pakitanis who moved to US should start loving US, should not they?

Hello: PakMan: Kid Pakistan armed services welcome overseas Pakistanis , you are not a US citizen only , you are a dual national therefore you hold a Pakistani Nationality as well. In Order to join Pakistan army/Air force/Navy you would have to "surrender" your US citizenship "Upon Selection in ISSB Test".

This is the Standard law for Dual Nationals , You can still take ISSB test , if you go through in Academic (Intelligence test) , Army Medical and Interview you would receive a call up letter from Pakistan Military Academy for PMA long course entry but you would have to surrender your US Nationality at this point before starting the course.

" PAKISTAN NATIONALS RESIDING ABROAD. Eligible candidates residing abroad are exempted from Preliminary Selection. However, Defence Attaches are requested to ascertain their overall suitability, physical deformity and stammering aspects. The candidates are advised to approach Pakistani Embassies (Military/Defence Attaches) in the country where residing or Personnel Administration Directorate PA-3(a), GHQ Rawalpindi, for issuance of application forms only.

They will submit their application forms alongwith connected documents through Pakistani Embassies. A postal order of Rs. 100/- and a bank draft of Rs. 500/- in the name of Director Personnel Administration-1., Personnel Administration Directorate, GHQ Rawalpindi will be attached with the application form. Postal address in Pakistan should also be indicated in the application forms so that call up notice for ISSB Tests/Interview and further correspondence to eligible candidates can be made on the given Pakistani address. No traveling allowance will be admissible. Upon final selection candidates with dual nationality will have to surrender nationalities other than Pakistani. "

Your country is the US, not Pakistan. But it is telling that you want to know if the Pakistani military give the same benefits as the American military.

Anyway...The issue is not how the Pakistan military will view you, which for all we know they may welcome you, but the issue is with US...

United States Code: Title 8,1481. Loss of nationality by native-born or naturalized citizen; voluntary action; burden of proof; presumptions | LII / Legal Information Institute
§ 1481. LOSS OF NATIONALITY BY NATIVE-BORN OR NATURALIZED CITIZEN; VOLUNTARY ACTION; BURDEN OF PROOF; PRESUMPTIONS

(3) entering, or serving in, the armed forces of a foreign state if

(A) such armed forces are engaged in hostilities against the United States, or

(B) such persons serve as a commissioned or non-commissioned officer;
You will lose your US citizenship when/after you join the Pakistani military if:

- War breaks out between US and Pakistan and you CHOSE to remain with Pakistan.

- You rise to the ranks of either a non-commissioned or commissioned officer. In other words, you can serve in the Pakistani military and retain your US citizenship as long as you do not rise to any ranks of authority where your orders can affect lives.

In India there is no dual citizenship like Pakistan. If a person accepts Citizenship of other countries, his Indian citizenship is automatically taken away and he/she has to surrender his passport to nearest Indian Embassy. But A Subject of Bhutan, citizen of Nepal, Tibetan Refugees and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) has special preferences in India.
