it will be a paradigm shift in policies if the Pakistani forces go for a twin-engine aircraft,as they have historically preferred single-engine solutions so far

not neceessarily u see the navy requirs different platfourm than PAF .navy needs ACs that have long range and huge pay load and can target elements far away at sea thus twin engin is no prob FOR NAVY

Navy budget doesn't have alot of moeny, very tight. Some amounts of money will be used to fix damaged security and upgraded thick from the terrorists attack.

^^ That's a hurdle that I see as well. The limited budget allocated to the Navy will make it difficult unless our economy picks up.

Why would PN be getting J-11Bs (rather than PAF)?

According to China source, Eagle Hannan also indicates that the Pakistan Navy is interested in the J-11Bs with Russian engines. This appears to be counter-intuitive given the sensitive nature of Russia's copyright relations with China. However, it is possible that Pakistan may attempt to placate this sensitivity by buying Russian engines and paying royalties. It is also possible that Russia is smarting from India's recent rejection of Russian military gear and move towards Western sources. These all make for a great deal of controversy and are likely to keep arm-chair generals and military analysts busy in the foreseeable future. What is clear is that Pakistan and the PAF will get a significant boost, in fact a major leap in capabilities in the next 12-24 months.

J-11B
bring on, baby! :bounce:

1) Navy or Air Force?
2) Source?

refers to
Grande Strategy
which says:
"According to well-vetted sources from Pakdef (Eagle Hannan)"
So, ... there is no official source, it would seem?

^ When it comes to collaboration between Pakistan-China military, there are very rarely official sources. Sources from forums such as Pakdef are quite reliable and have been proven to be true.

Given Russia's appalling after-sale track record with India I'm sure the Inidans would be more than happy to see Pakistan straddled with the issues they have faced up and til only recently but have now been resolved with engines being made in India. It was reported back in 2008 IAF had to send engine back to Russia before a replacement was sent out. With smaller numbers PN would buy I imagine the situation wil be similar. Also how can China possibly get away with selling unlicensed rip-offs of their fighters to other countries? And the whole notion Russia is upset at result of MMRCA and will now shift alligence to Pakistan is BS- Russia and India have held historic warm relations and India-Russia have TENS OF BILLIONS of deals in the pipeline dwarfing any possible Pakistan engine deal.

I think Pakistan Navy should save the money to buy new Orion P3 aircrafts that terrorists were hell-bent on destroying.

There were something special about those Orion P3 aircrafts that made only these aircrafts a target for terrorists.

one P-3C is a total loss while other is damaged if it can be repaired will soon return to service visible damage was interior time will tell damage is to what extent.

Perhaps. The information suggest PN to get J-11B which, given the nature and age of the A/C in PAF service as well as PN naval doctrine, makes one wonder why. Also, the information speaks of PN initially but ends with reference to PAF. So, which of the two services needs the J-11B the most, and which gets it? Haven't seen the answers there yet and remain sceptical therefor.
